Girl looking upImagine…studying from the comfort of your home, interacting with faculty and students from across the country, participating in course discussions when it’s convenient for you…stretching your mind with challenging coursework…becoming proficient in a specialized area of the law…getting the support you need to succeed.

This, in a nutshell, describes online learning at AIPS. Our structured 25-credit online course fits your busy lifestyle. Here’s what it’s all about:

A “real” classroom. The course content, textbooks, syllabus, class discussions, homework, research and legal technology are topnotch, current, pertinent, and challenging.

Taught by “real” people. Licensed attorneys and practicing paralegals teach all of our courses. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from and interact with highly respected professionals in the field.

Designed for “real” people. Our programs are created for working adults—mature people like you with full-time jobs, families, and responsibilities. The average age of our students is 40.

Even the homework is similar. In a typical unit, you’ll have reading assignments and workbook assignments. The structure of our program also means you’ll have “real world” deadlines to meet.

And so is the pace. You’ll proceed through the program at the rate you would if it were in a traditional classroom. You’ll start and finish with the same class of peers.

No lectures. Instead, you’ll use computer conferencing software provided by AIPS to communicate with the instructor and other students in the class. You’ll participate in a series of online conferences, which are continuously moderated and guided by the attorney/instructor.

Easy-to-use software. You’ll be assigned a course facilitator who will help you install and test FirstClass and other software on your computer, and provide the technical support you need along the way to successfully complete the program.

Interactive. Our computer network, accessed via the Internet, provides the structure for interaction between faculty and fellow students through an online folder system. You’ll receive frequent, consistent, and prompt feedback from faculty. The instructor leads the class, gives reading and homework assignments, facilitates online discussions, and personally grades and returns assignments—all inside our network.

Small classes. We limit each class to 15 students to ensure you receive the personalized support and guidance from faculty and staff to be successful.

Help anytime. From technical assistance to workshops that help you refine your skills in particular areas—such as writing and grammar, Lexis, and job searches—you’ll have around-the-clock access to the tools you need to complete the program.

Orientation. Your tuition includes an orientation session that will familiarize you with our program. You’ll meet faculty, staff, and fellow classmates as well as practice inside our FirstClass network. We guide you through the technical skills you need for all of your AIPS coursework.
